Fund for Hearing Aids

Hello…my name is Tara, I am 45 years old and I was born profoundly deaf in my right ear from a congenital birth defect of missing important fibers way past my cochlear. That crazy fact was not caught until I was 19, amazing how you can slip by the system back then. Back to why I have created this GoFund Me account… I need help paying for my hearing aids. This last Valentine’s Day into the evening I developed an ear ache suddenly in my left ear and it was so painful I could not sleep, so I walked myself to the emergency room(a few houses down from our home) at 4am. I was told I had swimmers ear, this was new territory for me, never having it that before nor have I had ear infections(this would have made me stone deaf and I would have remembered those moments). Took the ear drops and maximum ibuprofen then went on to work later that morning. Was advised to see a doctor again that very day due to my fatigue and appearance and my new diagnosis was Acute Otis Media, my ear drum would most likely burst and I may loose some hearing. At this point I am stone deaf, there was a lot of writing/reading. Prescribed Augmentin for the infection. A couple of days late I felt worse and I was given a CT Scan and my next new diagnosis was that I have Mastoiditis with near complete opacification. Almost a month from when the infection started I get a tube put in to drain the infection and was given stronger antibiotic. It took months to heal and but the end result was moderate-severe to profound hearing loss in my left ear, the only good ear God gave me. Once the infection cleared I was fitted with hearing aids. I have a bi-cross in my right ear(nothing can be done to correct it into a hearing state), which is just a mic that allows me to hear sounds and that sound is transfer to my left ears hearing aid. The damage from the infection in my left ear caused nerve damage and hurt my hearing in the area where voice travels as long as your mouth is 12 inches from my left ear, I would be able to hear what you are saying without the aid of a hearing device. This is very difficult, obviously… I was approved to use a vocational rehab facility and trying to re-educate myself in a field I may work even when my hearing completely fails. I am working on a certification in the fundamentals of software development, which is the prerequisite for beginning my bachelor’s degree program in software development, Voc-Rehab will pay for the majority of my education, the remainder I will need to pay back in student loans. Voc-Rehab also paid $2,000($1,000 per ear) towards my hearing aids and that leaves me with $3,100. I do not qualify for the payment plan and we cannot afford this total amount. I work part time under contract for $550.00 a month and my spouse works minimum wage in our small town. To save on rent, we moved 20 miles out of town where it is cheaper and where my job is located. I have until the 2nd week of January to pay the $3,100 or I will have to surrender them. Please help if you can and thank you for giving me your time in reading my story.
