Jenna’s Story

Back in September 2022 our gorgeous friend was unfortunately diagnosed with breast cancer at the young age of 32. She was diagnosed with grade 3 stage 3 cancer. Jenna who is a amazing mum to her three children was fit and healthy. So as you can imagine this came as a complete shock to us all but as always jenna continued living an independent life whilst battling this disease.

The treatment began within two weeks of diagnosis. She endured five months of chemotherapy, surgery, radiotherapy to fight this disease whilst trying to maintain a normal life as a mother.

Jenna loves travelling & experiencing life as much as she physically can and the last few months made that challenging. As we came to the end of treatment in may 2023 Jenna went away to celebrate her birthday with her two daughters Amelia & Delilah. We were all so relieved that her journey with harsh treatment was coming to an end, and on track for recovery and healing from the trauma of the treatment to her body. After receiving the after treatment plan of monthly injections and hormone blockers and just a simple plan of being monitored, our girl had gotten through the worst we believed and was looking to forward to experiencing life after beating cancer.

At this time a biopsy had to be done due to concerns around Jennas liver. The biopsy was taken and the results came back and Im saddened to say it was unfortunately secondary breast cancer, not only had the cancer spread to Jennas liver but it was at an extremely aggressive rate. None of the treatment plan was working and it wasn’t under control, which remains the case to this day.

For those who don’t know, Secondary breast cancer means this is no longer curable. The purpose of treatment now at this stage is to prolong our girls life here on earth with her three children and family and friends. Jenna was sadly given a prognosis which she was left with no choice but to deliver the news to everyone in her life. The positives to this are after individual research, there are some combined treatments that can try and keep her stable so it doesn’t travel anywhere else in her body. When we received the news about her liver, the treatment (oral medication) she started straight away but after a few weeks she had no choice but to terminate this due to severe sickness resulting in multiple overnight hospital visits and with 3 young children at home it became increasingly difficult.

After biopsies confirmed the spread of cancer Jenna was offered a liver operation to try and remove the lesions from her liver. A high specialist agreed to do this providing he had all of the different contrast scans to pin point every single one of the lesions and then sort out the surgery plan. We was so happy and grateful to hear this was possible and to have a chance of the operation as it’s not always offered due to the liver being compromised with a secondary cancer. It seemed hopeful for this to go ahead because this would provide more control over the disease spreading.

Whilst on holiday with her mum and her children, Jenna got a call to say she couldn’t have the operation and it wasn’t going ahead. There was to many lesions across the segments of the liver which meant if they was to operate they would be risking it spreading further. Secondary liver cancer is not like a primary cancer in the way of how it’s dealt with, there are seven segments to a liver and if the lesions was in one area it would of been a lot more straight forward for the operation to go ahead. Currently the lesions in her liver are across several segments and it wouldn’t be possible to keep a proportion of her liver behind for her body to function properly.

After looking into private care for the operation that the NHS had let her down on she has found some consultants that may help her. Secondary liver cancer specialists are very limited, however there is a specialist in the London Royal Marsden Hospital who is a specialist in Secondary Liver Cancer & breast cancer. The plan is to meet and talk about the operation being performed under private care. There is also specialists in America and in India who may be able to help. As this is all private treatments this is unfortunately not covered on the NHS so we are hoping to raise as much as we can to provide the necessary treatments to prolong Jennas life with her children, friends and her family.

Any monies left over & not used will go to her three children in a trust fund to transition them into life without their mother. Anyone that knows Jenna knows how private of a person she is and it has taken a lot for her to share so publicly not just her diagnosis but her fight and any support, advice & alternative therapies from anybody who could advise in any way possible would be appreciated.

To conclude our gorgeous girl has continued her fight every day since day one and gave her all to give her children as much of a normal life as possible. Jenna is so strong and her children have and will always be her number one priority even throughout her fight with cancer.
