Help with Terri the Turtles Vet Bills

Please help with the vet cost of our Centre's beloved turtle Terri.

Terri has had an eventful (and very expensive) long weekend. On Friday afternoon she was enticed by a sticky, rubber lizard toy that entered her tank. We all know that Terri isn’t one to turn down an offer of food. The lifelike toy was too much of a temptation for her, and she gobbled it up whole. This meant Terri had to have an unexpected (and out of hours) trip to the Unusual Pet Vet. Terri required an endoscope and emergency surgery to remove the sticky lizard before it entered her intestines. Terri’s surgery was a success, the sticky lizard was removed, and she is happy and home in her tank. Although Terri is recovering well, our centre is non for profit, and this unexpected cost has hit our centres wallet hard. We are asking families to chip in and help out with the unexpected vet costs.

Terri has been with our centre for 17 years, watching on from her tank as the children learn and grow around her. Terri gives the children the opportunity to observe, interact and learn about animals all while she provides them with entertainment and a friendly, familiar face as you enter the centre. Terri has been such a valuable part of the children’s education and care experience, enriching their learning about nature, ecology and relationships. Providing her with food for breakfast has also been a comforting job to children experiencing tricky and emotional drop offs. She is a big and very loved part of our centre.
