Hi, I like to introduce ourselves. My name is Derek Jeffers and my wife name is Vickie Jeffers. Our journey started on February 22nd 2022. My wife was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and from that day forward our life’s have changed forever. My wife has been in and out of the hospital sense February, the chemotherapy that she was giving shocked her system and caused her to become very sick. Due to the mutated gene she has, she was hospitalized for 10 days to ICU and has had a number of setbacks due to the chemotherapy treatment . The chemotherapy has taken a heavy toll on her body, to the point that we almost lost her. She has struggled to get healthy enough to have the surgery to reconstruct her pancreas. She was making progress and heading to have the surgery, but one day before the surgery we were told that surgery was off the table due to the mass had grown back, another set back. She had to start over again with 3 months of chemotherapy to try to shrink the mass again. So once again she had to endure the treatment once again and all the sickness and mental struggles, but she pressed forward keeping a positive attitude and after 3 months of chemotherapy we had the cat scan to see if the chemotherapy had shrunk the mass. We didn’t get the results we were looking for, the chemotherapy didn’t work, the mass didn’t shrink at all. It now seems as if we are running out of options and time isn’t on our side. So now we have been introduced to getting into a trail and try a trial drug In Nashville Tennessee which is 5 hours away from our home in Indianapolis,Indiana. The drug sounds promising after meeting with the oncologist, but it's a new drug and doesn't have a lot of data. At this point, we are willing to try whatever we can to give her more time to spend with her family and friends, and grandchildren and have some quality of life. But it will come at a heavy Financial burden, the traveling, and medical costs, and the physical toll on her body. I will have to miss 2 -3 days a week for the first few months. I am willing to do whatever it takes to extend and give her a better quality of life. Many of our family and friends and church family and coworkers and doctors have been with us from the beginning of this journey and following our updates on Facebook live. The cards, food, phone calls, and the in-home visits and encouraging words and Monetary gifts and most of all your prayers. We would not be this far along without the power of prayer and the Lord has been answering our prayers. So we are reaching out to all those who can help and whatever you can give will be a blessing, and I know the Lord will bless you in return, and I truly believe that with all my heart. Our faith is strong, and we will continue to trust in the Lord, he gave us this assignment and we will fight the good fight until the end. We want to thank everyone for your love and concerns.
