Hello! My name is Dede Rittman and I was an English teacher for 37 years, and retired when my husband Scott was dying from stage four colon cancer. I love kids, and I wrote a book (in verse) called "Grady Gets Glasses", about an adorable rabbit who wears glasses. Grady explains "far-sighted" and "near-sighted", how glasses help us see the whole world, small and large, and he makes every child who wears glasses feel "special"! The illustrations are adorable, done by my former student, artist, and Carnegie-Mellon grad Lauren Givens Wood. Our dream is to have a Grady plush animal friend 12 inches tall (wearing glasses, of course- RED glasses!) available for purchase so kids can be with their friend Grady. I have found a toy company to make the bunny with all safety procedures in place to make the toy safe for kids. $50,000 is the minimum amount needed to trademark Grady, get legal advice, have the toy company create a prototype, manufacture 3800 Grady rabbits (the minimum required), ship the rabbits, and distribute all of the incentives to those who pledge support. I had to wear glasses as a child, and I remember how I felt, because my brothers did not need glasses. Grady makes every child's world a more beautiful place as he shares his appreciation of wearing glasses with them. "Grady Gets Glasses" should be out for Christmas 2015 (Tate Publishing.)
