ZWAZO Impact: An Alliance for the Vulnerable
With current political unrest, the COVID-19 pandemic, and unfolding crisis in Haiti, children are deeply affected by decreased access to medical care, food, water, hygiene supplies, and other basic day to day needs.
Haiti has had a rough history! In 2010, a massive earthquake shook the foundation of the small country, leveling it’s already crumbling infrastructure to the ground. In the wake of such a disaster, Haitian children became even more vulnerable, many of them orphaned by parents who either died or abandoned them. Their care has fallen to community members as the Haitian government continues to rebuild social services 10 years later.
In 2013, Matt Pierce began working on public health projects in Haiti. His first assignment being in Leogane, at the epicenter of the devastating earthquake. There he met and worked directly with Femmes Integrees d'Haiti (Integrated Women of Haiti, IWH), who helped him to see the most vulnerable people in the community. Over the last 7 years, a strong and enduring partnership has made a real and personal difference for the children of Haiti.
ZWAZO Impact: Making a Difference, One by One
"Piti piti, ZWAZO fè nich" is a Haitian proverb meaning, "Little by little, the bird makes its nest".
In other words: Simple acts, one by one, make a big impact!
What is ZWAZO doing, RIGHT NOW?
ZWAZO Impact is currently raising money for these vulnerable children in Haiti. We are seeking your kind donations to help support our next mission in February 2021. We will be headed to Haiti to provide basic medical care, supplies, and support to the children in partnership with Integrated Women of Haiti. We will be identifying the most vulnerable and working with IWH to provide needed support.
What can YOU do, right now?
Spread the word! Every little like and share makes a difference! The more people who see the need, the more people will contribute, and the more difference we can make!
Donate! We have broken costs down per child. $30 is enough for us to provide needed support for medical care, food, and supplies to one child. Every dollar counts! No contribution is too big or too small!
Learn with us! Check out our online course, Haitian Creole 101 to learn the basics!
Get involved! Many hands make light work! We can use your help! Check out current list of needed players for the ZWAZO team!
Remember"Piti piti, zwazo fè nich" - Little by little, the bird makes it's nest!
Children are extremely resilient, but also quite vulnerable. ZWAZO means “BIRD” in Creole, and there are hundreds of little birds in Haiti calling for your help right now. Read the ZWAZO story and learn more about how YOU can make a difference, one child at a time.
