Support for Justin

The evening of July 16, 2023 Justin, his fiancé, and 10 month old daughter were involved in a road rage incident that led to being rear ended, when Justin got out to see what the other drivers issue was the driver of the other vehicle proceeded to assault Justin and then he pulled a handgun. Justin managed to knock the gun out of the drivers hand and turned to run back to his truck when the other driver picked it up and shot him in the back.

The bullet punctured Justin’s lung and diaphragm. It is currently lodged in his liver and small fragments are lodged in his spine at his T11 and surrounding vertebrae severing his spinal cord. Justin is paralyzed from the waist down.

This event will forever be changing how Justin lives the rest of his life. His current home is not able to be equipped for his new condition so the life he and his family once had will look a lot different moving forward. Justin was the sole provider for his family so with his current condition comes many changes for his family financially.

They will need a lot of financial assistance in this time in order to get moved to a ranch style home that is wheelchair accessible. They will need help obtaining all of his medical equipment (TBD), they will need assistance getting Justin into a rehabilitation facility once he is released from the hospital, bills that are starting to add up until his fiancé is able to secure a new job after leaving the workforce to stay at home with their 10 month of daughter and other children.

Justin’s improving every day as he heals and works with physical therapy. Though not out of the woods just yet as they currently have issues with his chest filling up with blood which puts pressure on his lungs. He has already had an incident where his lung collapsed on his way to do a CT scan thankfully they were able to recover quickly and get it under control. As of now Justin’s condition is stable and moving in the right direction. We won’t have any answers about discharge or rehab until he is doing well enough to get the chest tube removed. Once he can start a more intensive physical therapy routine after the chest tube is out we will know what medical equipment we will need and the amount of rehab he will need as well. Justin’s condition at this time is based on a day to day basis.
