Help bring our Dad home

On behalf of my cousins and my uncle I am pleading with you to read the following heartbreaking story:-

Hi, my name is Karen and, together with my family, I am fundraising to try and get my 88yr old dad home from Greece.

On the 5th of July, whilst on holiday in Corfu, my dad fell out of bed and broke his hip.

He was taken by ambulance to the Public

hospital and since then has received hardly any care from medical staff. We were informed that there are no private nurses on the island available and so my sisters have been caring for our dad 24/7 whilst he lays in bed. They are unable to help him with his pressure areas, as they cannot move him, so he is likely to have bed sores. His bedding has also not been changed at all since he arrived. The hospital have, so far, refused to perform his operation, saying he has to be 7 days without his blood thinners (despite advice from UK medical professionals telling them otherwise).

We are desperate to get dad home to the LGI so that he can have his vital surgery and receive the care he so desperately needs.

Our main issue is the insurance providers (who charged him £300 for 1 weeks cover) have stated they likely will not cover the cost of repatriation and have warned us the cost is going to be about

£22,000 (which we will have to pay out of our own pocket.)

The reason for them saying we will have to pay is due to the vagueness in the small print in the policy, as they appear to be using a loophole to avoid them paying.

As a family, we just do not have this amount of money and this is why we are asking our community for any help or support they can provide.

Because of the poor care he's currently

receiving, if he had the operation over there, he would not be home for another month. Even then, we’d still have to pay the £22,000! To get him back home!

We can't let him spend his days and nights in that state - we are heartbroken already and as a family we are dreading an even worse outcome.

Please, please, please, help us to bring dad home, we are desperate.
