Black History Month Opportunity for Allies!

~CALLING IN WELL-INTENDED WHITE PEOPLE!!~

Happy Black History Month to all of our Allies interested in finding a way to support a Queer & Trans Family of Color this holiday season!

We are a trio of exceptional individuals who—like countless other Trans and Gender Non-Conforming people—face significant systemic financial barriers in life. Luckily, we haven't let poverty kill our spirits!

Sloan is a non-binary, formerly fostered Philadelphia native of color who was wrongfully terminated from their employer for refusing to continue volunteering free labor and advocating for QTPOC employee rights. Pitifully, the same day they were fired in the lobby after returning from teaching four 9th grade classes, Mazzoni Center released a docuseries from Cosmo Magazine highlighting Sloan’s incredible efforts supporting LGBTQ youth by providing them access to inclusive and comprehensive sex education. This past summer, they started a non-profit called ClassDos to get students of color hair services for free. They are currently seeking full time work as a sex educator to continue teaching youth essential information they deserve.

Mikah is a trans man of color from Alabama who started his medical transition just last year. He is a diligent, charismatic, hardworking adoptee with a sincere passion for helping people. His long term goals include returning to school for Health Administration to oversee operations for behavioral health patients & clients. He is deeply invested in tech & media literacy for elderly populations and spends a majority of his free time promoting trans advocacy efforts using his own lived experience as a transgender person acknowledging the intersections of gender & sexuality, parenthood, and mental health.

Lance  is our little STAR. He is a charming 5 year old gentleperson in training who knew before either of us that being a boy doesn’t have anything to do with what you look like on the outside. With his innocent wisdom, Mikah discovered his own identity and Sloan fell in love with them both. We just started our Youtube Channel, PassSloantheMikah, earlier this year, but video editing and social media presence turns out is more consuming than a full time job! We need money to continue creating content and are seeking investments to produce higher quality episodes.

Even more exciting news is we ARE MOVING TO A BIGGER PLACE THIS MONTH! Since moving in together less than one month ago, we have been anxious to get Lance his own room. Goodbye, air mattress, hello, non-air filled mattress!!

HERE’S WHERE YOU CAN HELP! NON-AIR FILLED MATTRESSES!

In addition to surmounting moving expenses, we are also planning to use donated funds to invest in installing high-quality camera systems to capture all of our Whacky Black Trans Family moments in a more consistent and organic fashion. iPhones have great quality but Sloan’s right arm needs a rest.

If you are a CAPABLE WHITE PERSON looking for a way to give back this Black History Month, please consider donating to support this next huge step in our lives.

If you are an INCAPABLE WHITE PERSON looking for a way to support us non-monetarily, PLEASE do the labor of ASKING A CAPABLE WHITE PERSON you know to donate. Implicit bias says it will sound much differently coming out of your mouth than it will ever sound coming out of ours.

We are not asking people of color for money because this is an excellent opportunity for a non-poc person to show up, but POC are absolutely welcome to donate as well. Solidarity in community for us looks like spreading the word to reach the pockets of the people that giving away money affects much less.

Identifiable Donations over $50 will receive a custom “Black History Month” Certificate, handwritten thank you notes included.

Identifiable Donations Over $100 will receive personalized “Black Gladitude Videos” with accompanying original choreography by Lance himself, in addition to previous benefits.

Identifiable Donations over $500 will receive behind the scenes footage from the move, including footage you DO NOT WANT TO MISS if you’re into trans-masc mania, depictions of Stud4Stud romantic relationships like this are RARE. Previous benefits included as well.

**Friendly reminder that donations come in many forms! Even sharing this page we would be grateful for! Giving Black people platforms to speak for themselves is one of the most valuable gifts you can grant a Person of Color this Black History month. Unidentifiable donations of any amount will receive that warm fuzzy feeling you get when you help someone in need. We are thankful for you, too.

Moving is expensive! But thank you in advance for any efforts you are willing to make on our behalf. We warmly invite you to follow us on Instagram and we look forward to delivering even higher quality content to any one interested in keeping up with our respective journeys! Ase!
