Hello,
I am Zachary (Zak) Zindle from Gloucester Massachusetts. I am so excited to have been selected to the 2018 Ohio All-Star Wrestling Team! Making the Ohio All-Star Wrestling Team is a great honor. Team members are selected from a large pool of applicants. All team members have to excel on the mat and in the classroom! I am a 12 year old sixth grader. I go to O'Malley Middle School in Gloucester Massachusetts where I am on the honor roll. My favorite classes are Math and Spanish. I am also a member of the Gloucester Fisherman Youth Football Team, and I play half-back and linebacker. I have received the Coaches Award the past two seasons! Anyone that knows me- knows that I love being on the mat! I started wrestling in second grade, and have been on the mat ever since! I am a member of Mercury Rising Wrestling Club in Danvers Massachusetts and Smitty's Barn in Kingston New Hampshire. I am the 2017 Massachusetts State Champion at 97 lbs, third place in New England at 97 lbs. I was a 2016 State champion and the 2016 New England Champion. I also won the New England 2017 Marshwoods Champion and the 2017 Maine Freestyle Championship. I am a true student of the sport! I have made many amazing friends from all over throughout my time on the mat. This trip will be an unforgettable experience for me.
In addition to the wrestling, I will experience some awesome things on his trip as well! Team bonding rafting trips, shows in Las Vegas, visiting colleges and the Olympic Training facility in Colorado! They have had some amazing guest speakers along the way- Two time Heisman Trophy Winner Archie Griffin, infamous UCLA Basketball Coach John Wooden- Even President Ronald Reagan.
Over the past 36 years, The Ohio All-Star team has taken over 600 of the top youth wrestlers from Ohio and the East Coast on this journey.
In order to turn this opportunity into a reality each wrestler must raise $5,600.00 by May 1st 2018. This is to cover training, travel, lodging, sightseeing and competition expenses. I will be visiting local businesses and family to ask for sponsorship help so I can participate. The Ohio All-Star Team is an affiliated 501(c)3 member organization of the Amateur Athletic Association Union (AAU) and all contributions are tax deductible. Any donation is greatly appreciated. I truly appreciate all the support!
Cheers,
Zachary Zindle
