Guatemala Mission Trip
Donation protected
I have the incredible opportunity to travel to Guatemala this coming August 13-25th with the University of Mary Physical Therapy program. We will be spending two weeks in Guatemala, one in Antigua and one in San Lucas. In Antigua, we will be working with the God's Child Project building houses as well as visiting several centers there including Casa Maria (elderly center), Casa Jackson (children's center working with malnourished and malnourished children) and Hope Haven where we will be fitting individuals with wheelchairs. In San Lucas, we will be providing Physical Therapy services with Big Stone Therapies to the impoverished surrounding communities.
This will be an amazing opportunity to practice my undergraduate degree of spanish language as well as my medical skills and experience a new culture but more importantly, to serve those who are in need. I'm asking for any support for this educational, cultural and soul-enriching experience as I'm a full time graduate student already under significant financial stress. The overall cost of the trip is around $2,500 dollars and we will be completing several fundraisers through our spring and summer semester up to July 1st. If you want to help but do not want to donate money to this cause I will also be bringing items such as clothes, shoes, and toys to give to the people those we will serve.
I'm so looking forward to this experience and understand that it is an opportunity that I may never have again. I plan to take in all that I can in Guatemala and use it in my future practice of Physical Therapy. Any support that you can give me would be very much appreciated! Thank you so much!
