Hello,
My name is Charles Thompson, I was deployed to Iraq in 2004 as Marine.
I was apart of Operation Phantom Fury and I was involved in intense combat, that ,with out breaking into a cold sweat, I sleep at best 4 hours a night. I often have thoughts that make think of myself as a animal.
I also have Traumatic Brain Injury…I was involved in 3 explosions I can remember I was told we also had 4 others.
Non of my injuries in Iraq have been visible, injury to my brain is similar to a Quarterback taking too many hits to the head, mine was caused by IED or Roadside bombs …the force of the blast causes your brain to bounce off the skull.
I suffer extreme migraines, unprovoked anger ,trouble focusing and have been known to forget things…
That being said, while waiting for benefits to be approved, Some of my debts I had to make the choice between paying or providing for my children and wife who was in classes for nursing… I figured Ford Motors and places like Verizon wireless wouldn’t starve if I didn’t pay them, was it the best choice in terms of debt no,
But like most parents my children out weighed the credit…Ill admit ,a lot of debt went unpaid, because I made that choice however in the last 4 years I've paid two vehicle loans off and on time my bills are always paid on time or early
We also lost our home we had been buying off a family member , all I can say is my payment had been paid on time and to the sum of 40,000 ,to that individual why he did not make the payments on the mortgage I don’t know
But they wasn’t made and the bank took that away ,,,,I was forced to move into a 3 bedroom rental ,that turned out to be down 3 houses down from a drug den , so I began trying to get a VA loan to take away the stress of it all and have my own home,,,,,I've been denied 5 times, now my wife is expecting twins, and I have nowhere for them to go.
Ill be honest I hate the idea of asking help, I was taught never take anything that isnt earned, However
My children need this the deserve a place that no one can take away from them so I'm swallowing my pride and
Asking for any help at all, I swear it wont be for nothing, The money will be used to fix my credit, move into a home ,anything else my family may need……………
Any left over money will go to someone else in need, provided I can get the place my wife wants,,,,it will have 11 acres of property….I will set 3 aside, buy one of them fancy sheds that look like cabins ….and I will have solar panels installed ,plumbing possibly ground water ,it will connect to my home, wood stove and ac …I will then give the land and building to a homeless Veteran….for 1.00 ,a fresh start a place to build upon…..I promise nothing will be wasted
