Dear Ones,
I need your financial help to defend my Medical License against accusations of overprescribing opiates to two patients. The Medical Board is seeking the harshest possible penalty: License Revocation. When I think of the blood, sweat, and tears shed in order for me to become a physician, this unjust, unfair accusation is heartbreaking and cannot be allowed to stand.
I’m casting a broad net with this letter asking to borrow any amount you can help me with to secure legal help. I’m hoping to borrow $100-$200 from each of you.
I know that many Malpractice insurance policies cover legal expenses. I have not had such insurance in a long time. No savings, IRA, or other. It’s month to month I’s/O’s which I will share with anyone who wants to know…
The complaint to the Medical Board was made by CVS/Caremark Pharmacy’s Corporate Reps, who developed a “Blacklist” of Doctors they identified electronically.

Many of you know about my work in 2012, in Long Island, NY as a whistle blower / material witness and, although my own work was never questioned, CVS’ automated system obviously added me to the Blacklist.

In 2013, back in California, the number of opiate prescriptions I wrote decreased greatly and were mostly for Buprenorphine products used to help Addicts to taper / detoxify. I appealed to CVS to be taken off the list, supporting my request with copious documentation and, with no reason given, was denied.
My career has certainly been interesting: More than ten years as Program Physician at Berkeley Addiction Treatment Services (Methadone Clinic). Board Certified and recertified; Service to prisoners in Jails and Prison. A Harm Reduction Advocate, for sure. “Medical Marijuana?” Yes!
Please help. I will pay you back as soon as I can and, with my work, I will certainly pay it forward.
