Fee for carbon dating an elk antler
Donation protected
My name is Gary Thompson and this is a picture of an elk antler that I found while scuba diving in a lake in the Detroit Lakes, MN. area this past summer. Because of its size and how it was found people have encouraged me to find out how old the antler is. The cost is $740.00 to have it carbon dated. It could be up to 13,000 years old. There have not been elk in this area since about 1850 so we know it is at least that old. I brought it back to my residence and put back into the lake until I was able to find a way to preserve it. I am now in the process of preserving it. I will send the result of the carbon dating to those that donated. Thank you in advance to those that are willing to help me with this project.
