Feeding Program in Iloilo, Ph
Donation protected
Hello, everyone! My name is Faith and I am currently a 4th year student at CHSU (California Health Sciences University) completing a pharmacy doctorate program. Along with my classmate, Beth, we will be doing our last clinical rotation for our pharmacy doctorate in Iloilo, Philippines from April to May 2018.
Each time my family travel to the Philippines, my family organizes an event which feeds the children in the squatter areas in the city of Iloilo. I would like to continue this tradition when I'm there for the upcoming 6-week rotation. In 2009, the last time I got to experience the event with my family, 200 kids were provided with a homemade lunchtime meal consisting of entrée, fruit, juice box, and bread. We also played games in which each winner received a cash prize, which resulted in huge smiles on their faces.
We would like to focus in helping the students of Galang-Salngan Elementary School in the province of Oton and also the helpless children of surrounding suburbs/villages such as Cabanbanan.
This year, my goal is to feed 1000 kids in a span of 6 weeks. One dollar can feed one child which sets the goal at $1000. If there are extra donations, I will put the money towards school supplies such as backpacks and notebooks and/or offer to contribute to the tuition fees of students.
We would like to thank CHSU for helping us start this project with a donation of $500. We are that much closer to our goal!
