Ferguson Animal Hospital Building
Donation protected
Ferguson Animal Hospital opened in Ferguson, Missouri more than 40 years ago. We are Drs. Dan and Julie Wentz and we purchased the practice in 1993. We have been happy to provide veterinary services to the Ferguson community and surrounding St. Louis communities. We also work with the Ferguson Police K9 unit to keep our K9 officers healthy. We are establishing this fund to help offset lost revenue and for damage repair that is not covered by insurance.
When civil unrest occurred following the Michael Brown police incident, the windows of the clinic were broken out on August 10, 2014. The windows have remained boarded since then, due to continued instability in the area. Since that time, the business has sustained significant financial losses due to clients' inability to travel to our location, and because there have been times we needed to close for the safety of all concerned.
In recent years, our building has also weathered a tornado with significant roof and water damage, a lightning strike to our air conditioning unit and theft of 2 air conditioning units from the roof. These incidents have also contributed to financial stress for the practice.
We would like to update the front of our building to make it more secure and less likely to be damaged, and to repair water damages. In order to continue to provide quality service in the Ferguson area, our building needs some TLC and this is a good time to do some of these things that we want to do, while there are things we need to do.
Any donation you make will be used to cover lost wages and be designated to our building fund. We hope to be here for a long time! We would also like to help other businesses in Ferguson, so any unused funds will be donated to other businesses impacted by unrest.
