Chaparral HS Band Program

The band program at Chaparral High School, Las Vegas, NV has grown tremendously over the past several years in both quantity and quality. When I was appointed band director the program had 24 students, we now have an enrollment of 570.  Last year the band program was recognized as a signature school by the GRAMMY foundation http://www.grammy.org/news/grammy-signature-schools-community-award-recipients-announced.  Chaparral high school is in an economically challenged neighborhood and many students ask for assistance to afford to be in the band program. Although we never exclude a student for economic reasons the resources of the band have been stretched very thin. We are in dire need of instruments, equipment, and supplies. At this point we do not have enough music stands, instrument lockers, clarinets, trumpets, mouthpieces, ligatures, instrument repair, and front ensemble equipment (broken frames that we can't afford to replace). Any donation would allow us to provide opportunities to the many students that we serve.
