Piano In The Hospice

For those who don’t know me, my name is Corey, I am a piano player and composer.  The music I create is very beautiful, relaxing and heart-centered. 

I feel one of the missions I am being called to is to bring peace and comfort to hospice patients through my music.

Last summer, 2017, I lost three people very close to me, my father, my good friend Steven, and my x-wife Karen. Although Karen and I were divorced, we remained close friends.  She was the one person who knew me best on the planet.  It was cancer that took her.  For the last month she was with us, I brought my piano into the hospital, and then into the hospice, and played for her almost every day.  I know the comfort it gave to her, and to family members, and to others who visited her.  I know the power of music, and of my own heart, and I know it is time to share my music with others who are in the transition process.

I am raising funds to support being able to volunteer a large portion of my time to this mission.  With your support this is my plan for the first quarter of 2019:

I will go through some training at the different hospice facilities, in addition to music therapy courses specifically for end of life care.  As soon as I am through required volunteer training, I can begin to play for hospice patients inside of hospice facilities, or in their homes.  I will also be giving away my CD, The Healing Piano, to patients and family members.  Funding will also help me produce more copies of my CD.

I will create a website to bring more exposure to the benefits of live music in hospice care.  I will work with local nonprofits and establish a Patreon account to create ongoing funding for this project.

A long-term goal is for Piano in the Hospice to become its own nonprofit, and support other musicians share their gifts in this way.
