Fight For Dillon

“As a person that is always helping others, we are now asking others to help with his fight for his life”

Help us share the story of Dillon Barnett, our beloved son, brother, partner and friend who is now fighting his greatest battle.

Dillon Barnett is a 27 year old, born and raised in Penrith, NSW who has had a life filled with adversities. From the moment he came into the world, he has been fighting. Born with a heart defect (he was born missing his main coronary artery) he had to undergo open-heart surgery at just 10 weeks old. At the time, only a handful of infants were born with this condition and Dillon was one of only a few to survive this procedure. Following the surgery, Dillon was only given a life expectancy of 3 months; if he were to exceed this expectancy, chances were slim he would ever walk, talk or lead a normal life.

This past week, Dillon has been diagnosed with stage 4 Bowel Cancer, and we are now reaching out to you for your help.

Over an 8-day period, Dillon has had to face 2 surgeries; a colonoscopy, which showed the initial tumor located in his small bowel, and a second major surgery involving removing the tumor and reconstructing the bowel.  After removing the tumor, Dillon and his family were informed that the cancer has spread throughout his abdominal region.

Dillon will now be transferred to St. George hospital in Sydney where he will be placed under the care of Professor David Morris, a surgical oncologist who specializes in Peritoneal and Metastatic cancer. He will undergo a series of tests which will determine his eligibility for a Peritonectomy surgery, which involves removing his existing abdominal lining and replacing it to remove all visual traces of cancer deposits.

Doctors across Sydney are collaborating together to determine the most appropriate management for Dillon.

As a social worker, Dillon, has always prioritized other people over his own needs. Working with various charity- based organizations over the last 3 years, he has helped shape the future of youths that are in need & their families. Now it is our time to step up and help pave a brighter path for Dillon - a future of hope. Any donations to his cause will be greatly appreciated & will go towards helping Dillon with his recovery process and any unexpected medical bills. Please know that any words of encouragement, a loving prayer or positive energy will be enough for Dillon.

As Dillon has been saying this past week after learning of his latest challenge “I’ve got this”. #dillonsgotthis
