Filigree Ensemble Launch Concert

Help Filigree Ensemble by supporting our inaugural concert, Florid Spirt: Carlo G and the Vibrance of Italian Ornamentation. We are Christina Kay and Kim Leeds, and we share a vision for blurring the lines between early music and new. Our launch concert on August 20th will explore the early 17th-century ornamentation and improvisation practices featured in the Carlo G manuscript. Works by Carlo G, Monteverdi, Frescobaldi, Strozzi, and more will be featured alongside our own ornamented arrangements of popular madrigals.

Your gift will not only help cover our first concert but will also go towards commissioning new works, and bringing our innovative programming into new and exciting spaces.

Filigree's mission is to enrich modern historical performance by pushing the boundaries of improvised ornamentation, rhetorical drama, and creative programming to reshape the modern concert experience. In addition to enlivening music from past eras, Filigree blurs the lines of old music and new by commissioning contemporary works that embrace the creative ethos of past eras. Similar to jazz, we take more liberties with the written music on the page, making every performance a unique, exciting and joyful experience.
