Films on Foss
Donation protected
Thanks for the support last year for Films on Foss. Based on everyone's feedback, we're excited to announce that this summer we'll be holding twice as many movies. While we've decided on our first three movies (Pitch Perfect on June 25th, Ferris Bueller's Day off on July 9th, and Inside Out on July 23rd) the fourth one will be a "Fan Vote" on August 6th. If any of the dates get rained out we have a scheduled rain date for August 13th. We've set up this Go Fund Me as a way of raising money for the project while also using it as a way for people to vote.
Heres How it Works:
One dollar equates to one vote, and the total donation can be attributes to any one of the following six movies.
Clueless
Goonies
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone
The Incredibles
Princess Bride
Star Wars: a New Hope
For example, a $10 donation would count as ten votes. Voting can only happen in the comment section of the donation page so be sure to let us know who you are voting for. We will keep you updated on the scores and may the best movie win!!!
Background:
Two years ago, the Middletown Mayoral Youth Cabinet sat together at a table and envisioned an outdoor movie on a gigantic, grassy hill with people of all ages and backgrounds gathered to celebrate the magic of film and buttery popcorn. Films on Foss was born. The Mayoral Youth Cabinet is a group of local teens that aim to provide a voice for the youth and bridge the gap between the adults and students and the Middletown Community. Throughout the summer, Films on Foss shows movies of all genres on an outdoor screen to the Middletown Community free of cost. To supplement the movie showing, there are food trucks, face painting, and other activities for the community to participate in. We begin with a community picnic, and then the movie showing begins at sundown. The movies are held on Foss Hill, which is located at the heart of Wesleyan University. Foss Hill is not just a central part of Wesleyan, but also of Middletown as a whole. The purpose of Films on Foss is to bring the Middletown community together while showcasing the power of the youth. In the summer of 2015, MYC held two Films on Foss events, and due to their success we plan on holding four events in the summer of 2016. Last year attendance at our two events averaged 500 people. We will offer a variety of movies geared towards all different ages and genders. In order to fund these events, we need your help!
