Jamie Hillier went missing in the Pitt River/Fraser River on the evening of Saturday, August 18, 2018. Mooring near the Gillnetter Pub, a brief dip into the river became a life-threatening fight against the current where Jamie was pulled away from his boat and was last witnessed struggling against the water while his friends and wife attempted to reach him.

The search and rescue process has transitioned into a search and recovery process. We would first like to take the opportunity to thank not only the RCMP and members of the BC Search and Rescue community, but also the countless pleasure craft, tugboat and commercial operators who have volunteered their time, fuel and boats to search for Jamie. Through these combined efforts, an initial territory from the Pitt River Bridge to Annacis Island and surrounding areas has been  searched.

The dynamic nature of the Fraser River makes the search effort unpredictable. However, while we are pragmatic about the search, we are still actively attempting to locate Jamie and bring closure to this episode. This fund will be used to support the mobility of family, recovery costs and other indeterminate incidentals.

We would like to extend our deepest thanks to all those that have sent their condolences and support during this time.
