For those who don't know, my father in-law Fine as well as my 14-year-old sister in-law Kristi were both brutally attacked on the night of Friday May 12, 2017 by my brother in-law. Contrary to media reports there was no “domestic argument” and the weapon used was not a “kitchen knife.” This man went into my sister in-law’s bedroom and put a 16-inch machete to her throat for no apparent reason. Luckily, my father in-law who was already physically disabled was able to intervene to save his daughter’s life. Our belief is that that his intention was to hurt the entire family but only managed to get my wife's sister and father. Kristi was life-flighted to the hospital due to the severity of her injuries.
My in-laws are very proud people and are not the type of people to ask for financial help. Currently, both are recovering after 12 - 14 hours of surgery after nearly losing limbs due to defensive wounds. The road going forward will be a difficult one. My mother in-law will have to now take time off work to care for them both. Kristi and Fine will have to endure years of physical rehabilitation and emotional psychiatric help. Kristi will probably never be able to have full functionality of her hand and Fine will never be able to work again with these new injuries. These are the reasons why I am humbly asking for help. Any amount that can be donated will help ease some burden that our family has endured.
