FINNTEAM - ONE TEAM, ONE DREAM

FINNTEAM is an Olympic sailing team like you have never seen before
FINNTEAM is something completely new in sailing.
A multi-national sailing team promoting synergy, collaboration, fair play, tolerance and cultural diversity.
ONE TEAM, ONE DREAM. The concept is simple: create a team of Finn sailors from around the world who are in need of coaching and funding to develop skills and train together, and then source the funding that allows each of them to succeed and acheive their goals – and reach the Olympic podium.
Visit the team's website at www.finnclass.org/team to see what it is all about
The FINN class is the Olympic heavyweight
singlehanded dinghy, and has been used as Olympic equipment since 1952. It requires a strong, athletic and intelligent sailor to get the best out of the boat and is widely regarded as one of the toughest challenges in small boat sailing. Finns are sailed in around 50 countries worldwide and each year there are hundreds of events from local regattas, to regional championships to the world championship, the Finn Gold Cup.

THE TEAM
The FINNTEAM is starting with five committed sailors from Argentina, Ireland, Uruguay and USA. Visit the team's website for a profile of each sailor.
WHERE THE FUNDING GOES
Logistics: Transporting equipment and personnel around the globe.
Equipment: Finding and fine-tuning equipment is so important in the Finn class. Many sailors are making do with second-hand or borrowed equipment. To reach their peak they need the best available.
Training: Finn sailors like to train hard, together. FINNTEAM will largely be based in Valencia and through generous deals with the Dinghy Academy there, many sailors are already subsidized, but the resources are limited.
Resources: A long term plan for FINNTEAM is to create a sailing academy in Asia or Australasia to complement the one in Valencia.
Media: Without promotion and media exposure there is no story. From 10 to 20 per cent of the budget will be directed towards regular media updates, video, photos, press releases and social media. It will promote the sport, the sailors and the SPONSORS. The FINNTEAM will share NAMING SPONSOR branding across all sailors and equipment, as well as media output.
FINNTEAM is an initiatve of the Finn International Development Support (FIDeS) programme.
