Firefighters Rally to Help Their Assistant Chief
Donation protected
The Argentine Firefighters and community are requesting your help and support for a lifelong member of our family.
Assistant Chief Frank Hatton joined our Department in October 1984. Since that time he’s dedicated himself to protecting the community he was raised in.
Frank lead the typical lifestyle. He's lucky enough to have a great woman in his life, Pat. He’s also been blessed with two wonderful children, Andrea and Jeremy. Along with two grandchildren, Jaxon and Keri. Jeremy followed in his father’s footsteps by joining the fire department as well.
Frank’s life changed in August 2018 when he was diagnosed with Pulmonary Fibrosis.
At the beginning of May, Frank received a call from Spectrum Health in Grand Rapids, and was asked to make the 100 mile trip for an urgent evaluation. It was then they told him his condition had regressed faster than expected and he was admitted for further testing. It was determined that Frank would need a lung transplant to survive.
Frank made the transplant list and was released to go home with Pat. All we can do now is wait for the phone call.
Even with insurance, his medical bills are already adding up to an amount higher than you can imagine. It’s higher than any of us are able to help alone or even as an association. On top of that, the medication that will be needed for the rest of his life will equal cost of a new a new car every year!
The hospital is just over 100 miles from Franks house and family. So travel expenses have already added up. It’s likely Pat may need to relocate to that side of the state during the expected long recovery period.
Frank is strong willed and isn’t the type to ask for help. After spending the last 35 years being the one providing help to his community, he’s having a hard time being on the other side of things. What better way to thank him for all the sacrifices he’s made helping others than to make what sacrifices we can to support him and his family.
