First year UPS pilot diagnosed w/Breast Cancer
Donation protected
Hello,
My name is Cassandra Zelesnikar and I’m a probationary pilot on the A300 with UPS. Unfortunately, I have recently been diagnosed with stage 1 - grade 3 breast cancer, and as a result have undergone a double mastectomy for treatment. My continuing path of treatment includes undergoing 4 rounds of Chemotherapy to reduce the odds of recurrence. As you would imagine, this was all very unexpected. Depending on the treatment progression along with special issuance medical requirements, my return to flying will be delayed for a period of 5-10 months.
Unfortunately, I am a single income household, and it will be a struggle subsist on first year pay for an additional 11-16 months while recovering. (I will have an additional 6 months after returning to work to complete probation and receive 2nd year pay.) It is extremely difficult for me to ask for help and it is humbling. Regrettably, I’m out of options. To keep up with medical bills associated with this disease, maintain my home and sustain myself during recovery, I’m following the recommendation of multiple pilots and IPA advisors by starting this gofundme campaign.
If any UPS pilots (or any other kind souls) could find it in their heart to help me out of my bind, I would be eternally grateful. All funds will be used for bare necessities, and after completing my probationary year, any left-over money in this account will be donated to the IPA foundation.
Thank you for your consideration, and I hope to see you online soon (with my bald head!)
Sincerely,
Cassandra Zelesnikar
