Support Father Landy
Donation protected
Father Landwermeyer has been residing in an independent living facility in San Antonio, Texas. He is 81 years old, and has had some significant health issues over the past year or so, including a significant head trauma to which he is currently still recovering. He has been well looked after by friends up until this point. However, his physician has determined that he would be best served in an assisted living facility in the very near future.
Being a former Jesuit Catholic Priest, he took a vow of poverty almost 50 years ago, which necessarily limited his ability to fund any type of retirement account.
Although he is currently receiving some financial assistance from the Society of Jesus (The Jesuits) a small amount from Social Security, and some health insurance to supplement Medicare, he has no additional means of support, other than the generosity of family and friends. Further, as no longer a cleric recognized in the diocese of San Antonio, he is not eligible for any of the programs established for retired local diocesan clergy.
The facility where he is currently residing has an assisted living component and we are working to facilitate this transition. However, the costs of the added services far exceed his budget.
We are seeking an amount that will supplement his current budget enough to allow for him to remain in a place where he is familiar and comfortable for the next two years, plus transition costs.
As friends, former students, parents of students, and siblings of students who were mentored and influenced in such a positive way by Father Landy, we feel we must do what we can to help our friend as he navigates through the remainder of his life on earth.
We are all humbled by the kind support he has already received. Your generosity is sincerely appreciated.
~This campaign was started by 3 of Landy's friends who live near him and help manage his affairs. We started the distribution of this request though his Facebook page in order to reach those who already know him. Please share! Please reach out to us if you are willing and able to assist on a more regular basis. I assure you, no amount is too small. Please email us at: [email redacted].
Thank you and God bless you!
