Floodwood Laurentian Trip
Donation protected
Each year the Floodwood 5th and 6th grade students go on an overnight field trip to the Laurentian Environmental Center by Britt, Minnesota. This trip gives the students a chance to experience hands-on learning in an outdoor setting. The classes are alligned with Minnesota Science standards and the recreation activities also provide a chance for them to experience new activities and develop new interests. Some examples include Ojibwe Lifestyles, Outdoor Survival, Life Below Freezing and Snowshoeing. The Laurentian staff also goes out of their way to develop relationships with the kids in the classrooms, during recreation activites, and while eating the great meals that are served each day.
The trip has many positive experiences, but it also comes with a cost. It costs each student and chaperone
about $150 to go on the trip. This cost includes all meals and lodging. We are looking for donations to make the trip affordable for our students. Any amount you can give will be greatly appreciated.
