FLYNN POST CANCER FIGHT FUND

My name is FLYNN POST and I was diagnosed with stage 4 liver cancer on Dec 27th 2014. Here is my story! It all started in the 5th grade when someone (still unknown) shot me in the eye with a paintball gun! It was 1989, we just had a big earthquake and there were cracks in the cliffs by my moms house in Seacliff Beach, Aptos, CA,  so I was exploring them for fossils.   I turned around I saw what i thought was a park ranger. But I was very wrong! Someone shot me in the eye with a paintball gun! All I was doing was just exploring the area and I had just been shot!  This injury caused by some heartless individual cracked my lens, which resulted in me having to have it surgically repaired.  This caused my pupil to never dialate properly.  It was tough growing up not exactly looking normal, as at times one eye looked different then the other (very tough as a kid, as you know how kids are.) Because my pupil wouldn't dialate properly my eye took in to many UV rays over the years and caused Melenoma Cancer. On June 30th 20I4 I went in for a biopsy of my left eye because my eye had been bothering me for months.  I was told there was a 4% chance it was cancer! Unfortunately when i woke up from the surgery I was told they had to remove my eye! I had a 17.4mm tumor in my eye that was melenoma cancer (average eye size is 23mm)! I had a full body PET scan ordered to make sure the cancer was gone and had not spread! After the longest couple days of my life the PET scan came back clean. No spread! Woohoo! Me and my wife were soooo happy words cant explain! A day after the great results came in, my wife and I had this feeling that she was pregnant.  So we got a home test and it showed we were right! It was the BEST day of our lives! We were starting our own family!
Then comes the worst day of our lives! I got a followup CT scan a few months later and it showed the cancer had spread to my liver! I have 7 nodes (or tumors) in my liver that is melenoma cancer! NOT GOOD!  And it's not the skin type.  It's a very rare type of systemic cancer.   All I could think about was my child growing up without a father? Will I be alive to see and meet my child? Will my child ever remember me? My doctor says radiation is not an option! Chemo is not an option! A few years ago if someone was diagnosed with this type of cancer they just put you on hospice and said "live your life" They just dont know much about how to beat melenoma!  However, today there is a drug called Yervoy and that is my next step! This treatment is showing signs of success in the fight against Melenoma! 50% of people live 1 yr longer and 25% live 2 yrs longer! These could be the years that I have to spend time with my wife and baby girl Leah (who's due this April)! These could be the years that they come up with a new drug or treatment to give me another year or two. Yervoy is $100k per year but is thankfully covered by insurance! Thank you Obama for the care act as I couldn't get insurance before due to my PRE-EXISTING CONDITION.  Obama and tax payers have saved my life (so far.)  But I have a deductible to pay every year and every time I go to UCSF or see a specialist I have to pay 20% and these visits are not cheap!
I am so thankful to have such great family and friends to help us through this hard time! "You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have"  Please help me and my family through this very difficult time! I want to do everything humanly possible to save or prolong my life! Help my child remember and enjoy her father! Help my wife to not stress so hard and try to enjoy her pregnancy! Help me live so I can provide for my family that I love so much! I HAVE TO BE HERE TO BE A HUSBAND AND FATHER! PLEASE HELP US ACHIEVE OUR GOAL! If you can't give money please give love, prayers, hope or anything you can spare! We need anything and everything to fight for my life! My family needs me! THANKS FOR READING MY STORY! LOVE, FLYNN, KELLY AND BABY LEAH
