Emergency Communications Trailer
Donation protected
The Muscatine County Amateur Radio Emergency Service, a team of nonprofit volunteer amateur radio operators, is asking for donations to renovate and update this 1990 Jayco 34' travel trailer to use as an EOC - Emergency Operations Center. We provide emergency communications for the Salvation Army, Red Cross, and run the SKYWARN weather spotter program for the National Weather Service, plus many other served agencies in the their time of need during natural or man-made disasters.
All funds would be used for this trailer and the materials needed to modify and update it. All residents of Muscatine & Louisa County, as well as the surrounding counties, will benefit from the services that we can provide with this unit. We currently have 25 trained team members and growing. The sooner we can raise these funds, the sooner we can get this valuable piece of equipment in service.
When complete we will be able to communicate with non-licensed stations on CB, GMRS/FRS, Air Band, and Marine radios. The unit houses a portable cross-band repeater and an HF station that can communicate around the world. It also contains an on-board weather station and will soon have a High Speed Mesh Network. This unit will allow us to deploy for longer periods of time as it is a self-contained unit. It is in serious need a having the roof re-sealed, and needs some places in the sub-floor repaired. Other modifications include the addition of office space in the front and bunk beds for radio operators.
Thank you for your consideration,
