Food Drive and More for Asylum Seeking Families MD
Donation protected
The families, who I am volunteering to assist, are all legally in our country seeking asylum. Their nations have become too dangerous for them to stay. These are some of the most wonderful people I have known. One asylum worker I met stated that "the best people are leaving Central America as the dangerous people take over". They leave because their sons are being kidnapped to be in the gangs, and their daughters are kidnapped to be gang members mates. The gangs demand money from small business owners each week and the demands are often more than they even make. Some stories are much worse. We would benefit by allowing these people to become our neighbors.
Thanks to all who donated to the initial food drive. I have been able to provide large quantities of non-perishables to the 5 families I have been volunteering for in MD and 2-3 weeks worth of perishable food.
I am now seeking to assist with rent, utilities, clothes, coats, shoes, bedding (especially blankets), shelving, furniture, Uber or Lyft rides to appointments, attorney fees, medical expenses and any other need these wonderful families might have.
Please donate, even a little, if you can.
Thank you!
