FOR A SPECIAL BREAK FROM PARENTS
Donation protected
Hi my name is Othmann Al Attar and i am from the UK. I was diagnosed with Autism at the age of three. For the last 20 years my family has dedicated their life to establishing an inclusive education centre in Bahrain for children and adults like me – Ria Institute www.ria-institue.com.
20 years ago there was no provision in Bahrain for children on the autism spectrum. Today the inclusion message has spread across the country thanks in part to my parent’s work. The founder of the school, British National Christine Gordon (who is my mum and is the one doing this appeal for me) was awarded an MBE for her inclusion work in 2015.
For 20 years I have had to accompany my parents at all times. Much as I love them, I never get a break from them, nor they from me!
Last year I was lucky enough to spend 1 day at Belwood Lodge in Ontario www.belwoodlodgeandcamp.com. It was an amazing experience and I gained so much from it. I communicate solely through art and hands on exploration of the world and the Lodge is perfect for helping me to fulfil my potential. You can meet me at @othamanel on Instagram.
A place has been reserved for me and I would love to be able to go for 2 weeks to Summer Camp at Bellwood Lodge. this summer in July. It costs CD$2,000, plus my airfare from Bahrain which is another CD$1,500 (including transport to and from the lodge) This is beyond the means of my family.
Please help me to have a break and a much needed break for my parents too.
