For Spirit The Pup

Donation protected

This is Spirit. He was born on December 19, 2016. He was and is the smallest pup in the litter. He was born with a clift pallette that we knew nothing about until he was about a week old. He couldn't nurse from his mom so we had to start hand feeding him. When he got a lung infection from aspirated milk we found out about the clift pallette. The vet said he should of been euthanized at birth because of it. A clift pallette is an opening between the air passage and the mouth. So there is always a bit of food that gets in his nasal passage at each feeding, and sometimes into his lungs if we are not careful. He will have stunted growth and a much shorter life span then most huskies. He is a very patient little boy when it comes to feeding, he gets hand fed wet food with a syringe or a tube, about 4 to 5 times a day. He is not allowed to eat anything other then wet food that is prepared for him as it gets stuck in the opening inside his mouth. His surgery to fix this will be about $ 3000 when he makes it to the proper size and I can keep him healthy enough. He is a fighter and deserves to live without having to wear a muzzle at the park for his own safety, and to be able to eat treats that are offered. He has gone from 394 grams at birth to 21.5 pounds at 4 months. And the vet has said that the sooner he can have it fixed the better. I am a single mom that works two jobs to make ends meet. I love this little guy, but I just can't afford the special vet he needs to fix this.
