For the Family of Hector Garza

In shock, disbelief, and our hearts broken, we all now try to come to terms with the loss of our dear friend Hector Garza (and now his 8-month old daughter Camilla). On October 25th, Hector was driving his daughter home from her grandparents when his car was struck by a driver under the influence. Hector was killed at the scene. His poor Camilla suffered severe head trauma, was rushed to the hospital, put on life support, and after 5 terrifying days, did not survive.

Sometimes things in life do not make sense and this is one of those times. However, over the past few days of friends and loved ones reaching out, it has only become more evidently clear what an incredible man Hector was, how many lives he touched, and what a positive difference he made in this world. Outside of being the proudest father you had ever seen, he was a loving husband who adored his wife, an incredible son and brother who always put his family first, an amazing and dependable friend to so many of us, and a remarkable DJ that touched thousands of people’s lives on the dancefloor through his music. He and his daughter will be missed dearly.

Many people have asked about ways to help his wife Kirsten. We are collecting gifts to help with all of her overwhelming expenses and to help Kirsten navigate through this extremely challenging time without her husband and daughter.

Friends & Industry Colleagues:

Many people loved Hector and tens of thousands of people who didn't know Hector personally, but attended his events, knew him through his beautiful music. We have received many requests by friends to do an event in his honor. Something not somber but uplifting. Something that celebrated his life and his music. A place for friends, nightlife industry colleagues, and everyone who attended his parties to gather, commemorate, and reminisce about ourmemories of Hector.

We titled the event "Reminisce" because very appropriately, his first official CD compilation in 2010 was titled "Reminisce" and this photo is from his album cover. We plan to play all of his deep house mixes for us to enjoy one last time as a community. We are also planning a special violin performance by Dave Kim who often played with him at some of his biggest shows.

We selected La Mar restaurant as the venue location because Hector absolutely loved La Mar, our "White Sands" Sunday day parties there were his favorite, it was the last venue he DJ’d, and it was also the event and location in 2013 where Hector and his wife Kirsten first met and he instantly fell in love. So it is an extremely meaningful location that Hector would have wanted this event to take place.

On behalf of the Garza family, it is with a twice shattered heart that I share the passing of Hector's daughter Camilla. She suffered severe head trauma from the car accident on October 25th, but she put up one heck of a fight. We truly appreciate everyone's prayers from the bottom of our heart; however, God had other plans for our dear Milla. We please ask for everyone's cooperation in respecting Hector's wife Kirsten's privacy as she needs time to grieve. We please ask that you not call, text or private message her at this time. Please feel free to leave comments for her to read, which I'm sure she will appreciate when she has the strength to read them. Thank you again for all of your love and support through this horrific chapter in our lives.

HECTOR’S FUNERAL SERVICES / CAMILLA UPDATE
On behalf of the family, we are overwhelmed by and extremely grateful for the amount of love and support we have received. Many friends understandably are asking for details on Hector's funeral services. Unfortunately, due to many complex reasons, we are still solidifying a date and services will be sometime mid-late next week. We will be letting everyone know the details the minute this date has been confirmed. Many are asking on the status of Hector’s daughter Camilla. Unfortunately, we still do not have any positive updates to share. We please ask for everyone to continue to pray for Camilla and to pray for Kirsten and Hector’s family through this incredibly tragic time. Thank you again for all of your love & support.
