LifeRAT: Free RAT Kits for People With Disability
Donation protected
The big problem …
Millions of People with Disability (PwD) across Australia are currently unable to access RATs due to supply issues, the cost and the difficulty or fear of leaving their homes to obtain a test, which puts many of them at risk of contracting COVID.
For PwD, living without access to RATs isn’t really living at all. It means not testing yourself or your carers, without which many are forced to sacrifice basic needs like getting out of bed or having a shower. Beyond daily care, seeing friends, family and even medical professionals comes with an added risk which many feel is not worth.
So while the rest of the population is ‘getting back to living’, people with disabilities are isolating harder and longer. They’re feeling the mental, physical and emotional effects of social isolation, reduced quality of life and touch starvation.
The largest minority group needs help so they can get back to living.
