Here's what we know. Jay Gillespie was detained in Childress, TX on June 13, 2016 for possession of small amounts of cannabis, hash and a hash pen. It’s important to note that Jay is a medical cannabis patient in Colorado, and while those laws don’t transfer to Texas, this isn’t just another recreational user getting busted. He's now facing a mountain of legal troubles and unless we collectively come together to #FREEGILLESPIE, this could be a huge burden on Jay’s life for years to come. Think about it, is there a BETTER heart than Jay's? Rhetorical.

So...here's the deal. We're hoping to raise $15,000 to cover legal and travel expenses associated with this battle. If the costs incurred fall below what we have raised, we will DONATE THE EXCESS TO CHARITIES IN THE ORLANDO COMMUNITY to benefit them in the wake of the terrible violence they've recently endured.

You may think, 'Jay did a crime. He should do the time. Them's the rules.' You wouldn't technically be wrong, but we live in a time where cannabis laws are changing dramatically across the country, even in Texas, where they’ve recently legalized low-THC cannabis for medical use. What makes Jay’s medical use of cannabis any different or less important? Wasn’t it punishment enough to lock him up over night in a detention center that has a one star google rating and whose only google review is "Turds"?

Jay Gillespie is a truly harmless and COMPLETELY loving human that was targeted because he was driving a car with Colorado license plates, a practice very common in neighboring states since the legalization of cannabis in Colorado.

It could have been any of us.

As many of you know, Jay was a part of the band Ultra Sex Laser for a long time with Ryan and Jules Fechter. They made a song TODAY to share with you and the world to have some fun with this.
