Fresno Flats Summer Student Docent Program

Please consider joining the Sierra Historic Sites Association to help hire Oakhurst high school students as docents this summer for Fresno Flats Historic Village and Park. We were fortunate enough to received $1,000 from the Madera County Tourism Improvement Grant, which will fund up to 8 hours per week. Students will assist with leading tours and operating our museum and gift shop. It is our goal to raise an additional $5,000 in community donations, which would provide 40 hours of employment per week to hire between 2-3 students. The program will offer valuable work experience and employment for our kids while helping share our local history with the public. The grant and community donations will strictly be used only for student salaries. If you are not able to donate, please consider volunteering. There as so many opportunities for getting involved, from being a docent yourself, to helping with our Heritage Day and Parade.
