Friends of Roger Barr

Probably like you, my wife and I became big fans of Roger Barr after seeing him on Chasing Classic Cars.

Several years ago I wrote a fan letter to Roger with a request that someone take a video of him wishing my wife a happy birthday ... and it happened!  Much, much better than a Hallmark card and the greeting was a vignette of vintage Roger. Great stuff indeed.

A year later my wife and I met him for the first time and were more than impressed that he instantly knew who we were and cited specific details about us as proof!   Roger’s brilliance, wit and Yankee humor were even more evident as we spoke. We already knew he was a great character, and after our brief chat we knew that he was even much more colorful in person than his appearances on TV suggest!

Roger was injured while working at F40 Motorsports and was subsequently hospitalized with an infection. Later that year he was once again hospitalized due to the continuing infection. He missed a month of work and again later that year  but he finally was able to return to part time work. For whatever reason he was not  reimbursed through Workers’ Compensation. Without going into personal details about the health of his wife Sally or his and their financial status let’s just say that weeks without income and their mounting medical bills had taken their toll. Roger, while being a proud eighty three year young man has not asked anyone for help but would certainly seem to be in need of it.

It’s easy for all us to enjoy being entertained by Roger’s moments on TV and we’d bet that fans often want to reach out to him to say “thanks for the entertainment!”

So - here’s your chance. Roger Barr is a semi-retired mechanic working and trying to keep afloat; he doesn’t benefit from the sales of million dollar exotics nor has any income from a TV series, he just earns an income as an employee working four hours each day.

Roger recently went through knee replacement surgery and is doing physical therapy without complaint (that we've heard of!).  No original parts were still in stock but the replacement joint is far better than what he suffered with before!   He'll have the other knee replaced this month and so he'll miss two months of work (again!) so he'll still need our support.

We hope that you can reach out to him and say thanks by making a contribution.  That’ll bring a smile to his face, and yours.
