Joan Embery Animal Fund
Few people in the world are as dedicated to the preservation of wildlife and the environment as Joan Embery. She is from California, but serves the animal kingdoms of the world!
For the majority of her life she has worked with animals, championing the need for preservation and the protection of their rapidly diminishing habitats.
In an effort to broaden the reach of her message, Joan embarked on a new venture in 2004, designed to spread the word about the need for conservation by educating and motivating the public to develop a greater understanding.
We humans have the ability to define our future quality of life and the fate of those without a voice. Join us in this endeavor to preserve our natural world and its incredible beauty and diversity. Working together we can help insure a healthy planet for both humans and animals.
In addition to her many public appearances, Joan has led wildlife expeditions to such exotic locales as Africa, China, Nepal, India, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia, Australia, New Zealand, Tasmania, Thailand and the Amazon and has authored several books. As adedicated animal and environmental advocate, Joan spends her time workingwith wildlife organizations and educating the public. She serves on many boards focusing on conservation and wildlife issues.
A San Diego native, Joan studied zoology and telecommunications and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication. While Joan is most well known for her work with exotic animals, she is also an accomplished horsewoman, having won trophies in almost every discipline from dressage to cutting and driving to jumping. She lives on a 50-acre ranch in Lakeside, California with her husband Duane Pillsbury where she has raised and trained Quarter horses, Miniature horses, Lipizzans, Warmbloods, Mules, Clydesdales, Percherons, and her California State Grand Champion Brahman Bull, Bruiser. She also manages a community equestrian facility.
In 2004 Joan created her own non-profit foundation, The Embery Institute for Wildlife Conservation, with the mission of connecting people to wildlife and conservation issues and the role each individual plays in insuring healthy environments.
Q: Joan, how does your work – what you do - support conservation?
Joan Embery: My goal is to connect people to wild life and wild places and build a desire to conserve and protect them. My Animal Ambassadors are one of the ways I can highlight the wonders of nature and inspire people to conserve nature.

What Makes Joan Special in the Animal Kingdom?
Joan: I have spent my life interpreting wildlife for the general public. I think I have a good handle on what people know and what interests them – and that is not always obvious......... I’m like another person sitting in the audience – I can ask the same questions that they’d ask. I add another important perspective.
Her Dedication to Wildlife and Domestic Animals has no borders and she has been on the job all her life. Now, with your gracious support, she will continue her life-long mission at the necessary level of efficiency.
Joan enjoys speaking with audiences about wildlife and the environment. She shares her experiences and passion for animals with personal accounts and anecdotes. She maintains a collection of wildlife ambassadors that travel with her representing the animal world and helping to educate her audiences.

The purpose of this Fund, is to extend Joan's Animal Mission.
Joan Embery has been a part of hundreds of Fund Raisers, Societies and Projects receiving financial support world wide. She has raised millions for the direct benefit of others. Surprisingly and factually, she has never had one for the needs directly and fully supporting her Animal Passion!
Joan Embery and her husband, Dwayne Pillsbury have supported the Animal Ambassodors and the funtions of the Ranch for them, by their own financial dedication for years. Their names, reputation and lives have been the story of "giving and sacrafice." They are people filled with Pride, Dignity and Determination. At the same time, Private and Proud.
Their team, that is still left in place, have organized this drive. We haved vowed to make this International Animal Education Story continue and expand for many years to come.
With everyone's support we hope to immediately shore-up the financial burden that has rested on their shoulders for almost 40 years. The monies will be allocated to the short-term needs and long-term goals. We will send out weekly updates and continue upgrading our social media presence.
1. A portion of the donated proceeds will go to "The Embery Institute for Wildlife Conservation," a Non-Profit.
2. The other portion for the immediate support of everything related to the care and support of all Animal
Ambassadors and the Ranch were they are housed.
