Bring Matt Dillon Back to Dodge
Donation protected
GUNSMOKE was the longest running TV western drama ever. It started in 1955, ended in 1975 and made James Arness as Dodge City Marshal Matt Dillon ohe icon of American manhood. He was strong but never rough, soft spoken, straight as an arrow and honest as the day is long. Millions of boys grew up idolizing Matt Dillon.
Sadly, Hollywood today seems to have forgotten the tall, lawman and what he stood for. Other TV stars such as Mary Tyler Moore, Lucille Ball, Michael Jackson and even Ronald McDonald have been immortalized in statuary while millions of GUNSMOKE fans have been patiently waiting for our All-American hero to be properly recognized.
Well, the time has come. Artist Tony Cipriano has created an incredible likeness of the man and we, The Dodge City Trail of Fame , have dedicated our little non-profit to "bringing Matt back to Dodge" for good in the form of a life sized bronze statue of the famous lawman to be erected in the Ol' Dodge City National Historic District.
Here's where you come in. The cost will be born by public and private funding including 22" copies of the big statue and 11" busts in exchange for appropriate donation levels. We've already raised more than half of the needed $55,000 and now GUNSMOKE fans everywhere can jump in and help Bring Matt Back To Dodge!
We desparately need your help to finance last the life sized statue. Anything you can provide will be a huge help. We are a small, all volunteer non-profit group so not only does every dime donated go directly to the statue, but your donation through our 501(c)(3) charity is also tax deductable to the extent provided by law.
To show you how much your help means to us, even if you can only help in a small way, we'll send you a little something special for each donation of $40 - And Matt willl be waiting here in Dodge to greet you on your next visit!
