------------------------------------------------------------------Original story begins here-----------
We believe people around the world should have some chance to benefit from the latest technological advances to fight cancer, especially those bright kids whose smiles simply melt our hearts.

Malawi
Population: 13.6 million
Healthcare Resource Scarcity:

Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital (Q.E.C.H.)
- Started to treat children with cancer from 1964
- 28,000 children admitted per year
- 24 bedded paediatric oncology ward, 320 new patients per year
- Twinned with Royal Victoria Infirmary (Newcastle, UK)

X-WOW
X-WOW.com was founded by scientists in biology and computing. While spending our daytime working on cutting edge scientific research, we have always wanted to share our discoveries with anyone who is fascinated about the world of science, so we created this platform to gather all the inquisitive minds to share, inspire and support each other.

Currently, we are working to collaborate with a group of healthcare professionals and doctors from Newcastle University and Royal Victoria Infirmary to provide a digital pathology microscopic slide scanner to Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital in Malawi, Africa.

The Motivation
A digital pathology microscopic slide scanner, which is exceedingly rare in Malawi because of its high costs.

(Click here to find out more about Microvisioneer )

Compared to other whole slide scanners that can easily cost £100,000 and more, the equipment we intend to purchase, Microvisioneer, only costs £4,850. This equipment is incredibly powerful and portable. There is no way to overstate what impacts your contribution through this campaign will make, as it will enable doctors in the UK to provide timely diagnosis and treatment advice remotely to children with cancer in Malawi, BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE.

Our Solution
To make it happen, we are introducing the 'Hemepillows'! These are pillows that you can cherish for a lifetime, featuring one-of-a-kind designs composed of thousands of different, random white blood cells, inspired based on our collaborations with doctors from paediatric oncology and haematology in the UK.  Your pillow will be unlike any other pillow you have ever seen – and unlike any other pillow we ship to anyone else.

Most importantly, ALL OF THE PROFIT from Hemepillows will be used to cover the costs of Microvisioneer whole slide scanner. Whatever we raise above that amount, we will divert toward funding other x-wow.com projects in the future.

Your Contribution
Currently, we have come to you, friends, for the help that we need to make this life-saving x-wow.com project a reality through the Hemepillows. To show our appreciation for your invaluable support, we are offering Hemepillows to anyone who contributes at least £35 to this campaign, and we will ship them anywhere around the world.

For many people around the world, when cancer strikes, they are often left without options. In today’s modern world, this should not happen. Children should not go without proper diagnosis and treatment, especially not when the price for such diagnosis and treatment have become relatively low in the recent years. Nothing is going to change, though, unless we come together and demand that it changes. This is your opportunity to follow your instinct to do good, to do so boldly and unabashedly. We invite you to be part of this campaign and to make a statement, that you are someone who cares and who takes action on behalf of those who lack the means to do so for themselves.

In addition to making a contribution to this campaign, we also appreciate if you could spread the word about x-wow.com and our project to fund a Microvisioneer whole slide scanner for Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital in Malawi.

We appreciate all your support, both monetary and non-monetary, please visit our twitter page @X_WowCom  and we thank you for your time!
