Fundraiser for Randy Ward
Donation protected
Hello.
My name is Lin Ward and I have started this fundraiser for my brother-in-law Randy Ward, my husband Alan’s, older brother.
20 years ago Randy broke his back and he had surgery to install stainless steel rods and pins in his back to support both sides of his spine which took many’s months of recovery.
A few years ago he became very ill and ended up in the hospital diagnosed with type 1 diabetes which requires 4-5 insulin shots a day. Needless to say it was a life altering experience for Randy and those around him. He started a new job this year (2018) where he was required to operate different types of machinery such as a loader, forklift, skid steer, but after a few months things abruptly changed. The constant jarring of the machinery on his body caused the rods to break on both sides, leaving him in tremendous pain. The constant pain causes extreme issues with his diabetes. Finally after several weeks and a firm hand Tammy demanded that they admit him, and thank God they did. After a lengthy stay in the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, PE., it will take 16 - 24 months before he can even see a surgeon for a consultation. We are all dumbfounded that he will have to suffer for such a long time before his back can even be repaired. With all these issue going on and after numerous tests, CAT Scans, and MRI’s they have found 2 Hernias due to constantly being sick from the terrible pain as well as tumours in his lungs and on the outside of his lung. After a biopsy on both of his lung and a biopsy threw his back to the outside of his lung they have found no cancer but still feel they need to send him to Moncton, NB for a biopsy on his lymph nodes in the chest wall. With all that has gone on and the constant movement in his spine his pain levels constantly increase which causes extreme fluctuations in his blood sugar which causes great anguish in Randy’s body. At this time diabetis is definitely the largest, most deadliest issue Randy is faced with. He now needs to be monitored 24/7 which includes being woke at nighttime every few hours to check blood levels. There have been many scary moments for Tammy, his partner when she has had great difficulties waking him to check his levels. Tammy is also battling her own issues with a injured shoulder due to to much lifting as she works with the elderly and is now off on sick leave.
We are trying to collect enough funds to help with the purchase of a insulin pump, which could cost $7000.00 or more, and to cover many accumulated expenses and medical costs. Randy will never work again which is no great surprise to anyone that sees him.
We would appreciate a small contribution from anyone that could possibly help us and may God bless you all for taking the time to read our story.
