Fundraiser for the Klein Family
Kim and her husband Jay have been enormous gifts to our community and are now facing their own set of challenges.
- In December, Kim had emergency brain surgery at the St. Cloud Hospital following an accidental injury from her son. During this surgery, part of Kim's skull was removed.
- In May, Kim's brain had healed sufficiently for the piece of the skull to be put back into place. However, Kim's doctor stated that he had trouble with the surgery and that it was harder to put back the skull flap than it should have been.
- In June, a CT scan showed a brain tumor. Kim immediately scheduled a consult with the Mayo Clinic and had surgery in Rochester soon after. Thankfully, the tumor was benign. Kim will need to continue follow ups with the Mayo Clinic on an intermittent basis.
Kim has not been able to work since December and her multiple health concerns have eaten up all of her sick leave and FMLA. As a social worker, she serves as the family's primary income earner. Jay, her husband is a dog trainer and primary child care giver to their six children, one of whom has special needs. Both have served as foster parents and are involved in numerous community organizations, including the St. John's Boys Choir, St. Cloud Youth Hockey Association, St. Paul's Church, and All Saints Academy.
At this time, Kim and her family are grateful for whatever support you can offer! Funds will go towards medical and living expenses.
A picnic dinner will be held on Friday, September 17 at the All Saints Academy Parking Lot. Dinner will also be available for drive-through pickup. Serving will start at 5pm.
There will also be a silent auction held online. Bidding will open on Monday, September 13 and end on the 17th at 8pm. Stay tuned for more details!
