Funeral and Memorial for Jane Combs
Donation protected
On February 24th a tornado hit my mom and dad's farm in Dot Ky without warning. My mom, Jane Combs died of injuries when the house they live in was completely destroyed. My dad, John Combs was in the basement preparing the house for some heavy rains that were starting when he was blown back from the basement door as the tornado struck. He survived the tornado but was injured and dazed. When he was able to move he went to look for my mom and as he came to the steps leading up from the basement could see that the house above was gone. He was finally able to find my mom but she had died of her injuries.
Because my dad is a small private farmer he could not afford to carry very much insurance on his equipement, house and buildings. The insurance also does not assist with funeral cost for my mom and they lived on a very meager income from their farm and social security. Because of the unforseen nature of this disaster my dad is not prepared for the expenses of the funeral and the loss of almost all of his belongings.
My mom was one of the most loving and caring persons I have ever known. She was constantly calling people to check on them and to help others in the area that needed anything. I believe many of the people who lived in the area looked to her as a second mom or grandmother because of her caring nature. She was a wonderful mother to my sister and myself as well as a wonderful grandmother to her 3 grandchildren. My mom and dad have been married for 59 years and would have celebrated their 60th anniversary in September of this year.
