Last Wishes

UPDATE:  February 16, 2017
Today has been a very somber day for many people as Melanie Koch was laid to rest this morning. Heaven has truly gained an angel! Melanie had a only a very short amount of time to figure out how she would be able to pay for her funeral costs once she was diagnosed with terminal cancer, only slightly over seven months ago. She was known by those around her as being an independent and caring lady and the last thing she wanted to do was to leave her family with the financial burden of having to pay for her funeral costs. Prior to being diagnosed with cancer, Melanie was taking care of her mother; however, as Melanie's health began failing, her sister Sheria Koch became the caretaker of both Melanie AND their mother. Melanie's family could really use our help right now as worrying about money should be the LAST thing they should need to worry about during this already extremely difficult time. A friend of mine suggested that we start a gofundme page, so that is exactly what we did. We are only about $1400 short of our original $5000 goal. Melanie did not know that we were going to change the goal to $10,000, as that would cover the remainder of her funeral costs as well as help some with the remaining medical bills. Please share this gofundme request and help us reach the goal. All of the money raised will go directly to Melanie's family! Please share this gofundme post with your family and friends and help us reach our goal of $10,000. Every little bit helps! Melanie's story will be aired tomorrow evening (Friday), February 17th, at 10:00pm on WFAA ABC. We pray that her "last wish" comes true! Thanks so very much to all those who have already donated and/or sent prayers!

This GoFundMe account is twofold.  One cannot happen without the other and time is sadly NOT on our side! It all began with an endometrial cancer diagnosis.  A beautiful cowgirl lady by the name of Melanie was diagnosed on June 30, 2016 with Stage 4 terminal endometrial cancer.  Needless to say, this diagnosis has completely blindsided her!  She has had to prepare herself and her family for her impending death.  Melanie is not doing well at all and her remaining time on earth is extremely short!  She has lost all of her hair and spends the majority of her day in bed suffering from nauseousness and terrible pain from the tumors.

Then Rosie met Roxie.....which brings us to the second part of this story.  For those of you who do not know Rosie, she is the owner of Oak Point Ranch in Plano, Texas, where my daughter boards her horse.

Roxie is one of Melanie's beloved horses and Rosie, upon meeting Roxie, fell INSTANTLY in love.  One of those rare "love at first sight" and "soul connections" you find between horse and human.  Due to Melanie's life shattering diagnosis, she now has to sell Roxie in order to help pay for her own funeral.  Melanie loves Roxie DEEPLY and it is her greatest wish that Roxie go to a home where she will be loved and cherished for the rest of her days.  Melanie believes that Rosie would provide JUST such a home for Roxie and would like Rosie to be Roxie's forever mom!  Rosie would love NOTHING more herself!  Rosie and Melanie are both DIEHARD Dallas Cowboy fans and Rosie already has Roxie's colors picked out......blue/silver/white......of course!

Since time is not on either Melanie's side OR Rosie's.......we would like to help both these horse loving ladies out by attempting to raise the money needed to purchase Roxie; and thus in turn, pay for Melanie's funeral so that the financial burden does not fall upon Melanie's family.  It just so happens that Rosie's birthday is on February 10th, so not only could we help give Rosie the BEST BIRTHDAY PRESENT EVER, but we would be helping provide a fellow cowgirl with her dying "last wish".  And it all comes together with ONE horse, and TWO loves!

We appreciate ANYTHING that anyone can donate....no  amount is too small!  All funds earned will go directly to Melanie to help cover her final medical costs as well as her funeral.  And if you are unable to donate at this time, we ask that you PLEASE PRAY for Melanie and for her family during this extremely difficult and heartwrenching time.  Thanks for your consideration!
