White House Science Fair
My name is Geary Crofford and I teach science and coach robotics and chess at Woodall School. We just found out this week that the award-winning Woodall Cybercats Robotics Team is invited to this year's White House Science Fair. We need to raise ~$5000 in one week, and this will help defray expenses involving flights, lodging, food, etc. Any support for the students to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity is sincerely and deeply appreciated.
Here is summary of one of the emails we received from the White House this week.
Dear Geary,
We are happy to invite representatives from the Woodall School's Cybercats Robotics Team to join us as exhibitors at the White House Science Fair on Wednesday, April 13. We're asking your help in identifying up to four members of that team to represent their team's accomplishments at this event. The previous five science fairs held in 2010, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015 have been favorite events of the President as he is always eager to learn more about what the most promising and impressive young scientists, engineers, and inventors have been up to across the country. We will send media instructions because we know everyone will be excited to highlight the excitement of this event and the student's accomplishments. The Fair will take place at the White House in Washington DC. You should plan for the students to be available the afternoon of Tuesday (4-12) for exhibit set-up and all day Wednesday (4-13). Students will be invited to present their projects at the event, hear remarks from the President, and interact with other students, professional scientists, high-level senior government, private sector representatives, and others.
