Cory Staats Recovery Fund
Beschermde donatie
Per Gofundme, in order to make sure my campaign to raise money for Cory is legit. I have been asked to provide the following information.
1. My name is Michael Marias
2. I'm from Akron, Ohio
3. My friend from high school Stacy Hughes is Cory Staats sister.
4. The Funds will be given to the Staats family to help out in whatever way will help most. Depending on how much money is raised will probably determine if the money will be spent towards a vehicle, home repairs or bills.
5. I would like to personally present Cory, Stacy, and their family with the Check when all fund raising is done.
Please help if you can even a little adds up to a lot! I am amazed that we have raised almost $3000 in 2 days!!
Hi Everyone! I would love to tell you all about Cory and our long lasting history and friendship but that wouldn't be the truth. The truth is that Cory is the younger brother of a friend of mine that I went to high school with. I actually think I have only met Cory maybe once or twice in my lifetime, and Cory probably doesn't even know me. I do know his sister Stacy and their amazing mother. Their families hardships with Cory's condition and their continued faith in everyone they know is truly something you would see in a movie or even read about in the bible. Families like these are a rarity, a blessing and an inspiration to anyone that has the privilege of knowing them.
So here I am inspired by Stacy and her family to try and help in any way I possibly can, as I see how inspired they are by Cory's faith, love of life and perseverance through each and everyday of ups and downs. Cory was diagnosed at the age of 5 with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Cory is now 34, battling back and forth with his condition. Most recently Cory has been in the hospital for over 38 days dealing with multiple complications, and every time the Doctors clear up one issue it seems like more complications fall his way. His strength and his families love keep him going through more and more difficult situations. He has overcome so many obstacles along the way, inspiring everyone with his super human ability to always see the positive in some of the most negative situations. I want to make sure that he knows his faith is not misplaced and that even someone that doesn't really know him, is inspired by him.
I contacted Stacy and asked if there was anything I could do to help Cory and her family, as I can only imagine what they are currently going through and have been strong enough to deal with over the years. It was brought to my attention that when Cory comes home there needs to be some improvements to his bedroom and bathroom to make it more suitable for him. Even more important though was the fact that Cory's main form of transportation is in major disrepair and not safe to be used without worry on a daily basis. I can think of no greater way to show Cory his faith in others truely is a blessing and I would love to raise enough money to at least help Cory and the Staats family to get him safe and reliable transportation. Any and all help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.
If this wasn't enough to inspire you to help, please read a post that Stacy posted that truly would give you insight to the type of people you would be helping!
I will be posting some of Stacy's updates in the updates on here! if you need inspiration they are worth a read!
