Help my dad receive proper care
Donation protected
On October 3rd of 2014 I got a call from my mom telling me that my dad had suffered a heart attack in a city about an hour away from Mexico City. My dad is the best man I have ever met. He spent his entire life working as hard as he could to provide his kids a good life. He filled our lives with an abundance of lessons, ammenities, but most importanly, love. In fact, my dad was in Mexico in order to try to sell some family property so that he could retire my mother, and help his kids.
At first, we didn't know if he was going to make it. His heart attack was massive. They had to use the defribrulator on him 4 times, give him a shot of adrenaline and use the defribulator another time just to get a pulse. Soon after that, his kidneys and lungs started to fail, and his heart is and continues to function at 63%. Thankfully, after some time, his kidneys started to work on their own, but he hasn't been able to breathe properly.
Due to the ventilator he was on for weeks, he developed an infection in his lungs, so the doctors decided to perform a tracheotomy. Recently, he has had complications from it and even though he was starting to eat on his own, and recover, they had to stop giving him food because during the healing process his trachea fused to his esophagus and he needs surgery to correct it. Not only that, but he needs various procedures for his heart in order to insure that he won't have another attack, and frankly, they don't do that in the hospital where he is.
It's a civil hospital in Mexico. They are under funded, they don't have the machines or technology required to give my dad the treatment that he needs. The problems that have come from the ventilator and tracheotomy are actually due to the inability of the hospital to perform properly, and even though I thank everyone there for saving my father's life in the first place, he needs better care moving forward.
That is why I'm starting this Go Fund Me campaign. My dad is an American citizen, but in order to evacuate him, I have to pay a company called Aerocare $30,000. You see, my dad is not in good shape, he can't even breathe on his own, so he can't fly on a normal airline. Aerocare is a private plane/ambulance with medical personal that can give my dad the treatment he needs while the transfer him to the states. They are an amazing company, and they have been incredibly helpful, but they obviously can't do it for free.
My dad is an incredible human being, and he deserves to spend the last act of his life healthy and retired. I've always said that if I can be half the man my dad is, that I will be a great man, and I mean that more than anything.
If you find it in your heart to help me, my family, and most importantly my father, I will owe you a HUGE debt of gratitude that I won't easily be able to repay, but I will work for the rest of my life to do so.
Thank you for reading this, and I love you for even just thinking about supporting my dad and the thousands of people that love him.
