Gandor Chorale Got Robbed!
Donation protected
This is Gandor Chorale. They are the greatest band in the world and have been invaluable collaborators to the Brooklyn art scene since their formation. On August 1st they were robbed of approximately $3,300 worth of equipment from their locked studio space.
Gandor Chorale have long been contributing members of their art community both before and after they formally joined forces. They accidentally formed out of the drag scene in Brooklyn, filling in for someone’s friend with a broken arm. Guitarist and singer Cameron Toy’s recent EP Just Be Cool formed the basis of the band as they were deconstructed and rebuilt with drummer Cristian Neglia and bassist Caroline Kittredge Faustine. New songs and shows from rooftops to flooded basements quickly followed. Gandor Chorale released their first full album, Sleep in the Yard Where the Dog Sleeps, in 2015.
They have also donated their time and talents to many New York-based projects, including Chris Tyler's Total Rejects Live, new works festival Undiscovered Countries, and friends' birthday parties. They are currently working on an album to accompany a graphic novel, Half Lives, and recently finished a six-performance run of Ambition: the female American serial killer musical at Ars Nova and Tom Noonan's Paradise Factory
On August 1, 2016, Gandor Chorale was robbed of approximately $3,300 worth of equipment from their Brooklyn studio. The perpetrator left behind only a screwdriver. NYPD is currently on the case, but it's unlikely the equipment will be recovered. It took Gandor Chorale years to acquire these items, which they bought out-of-pocket to play gigs, to record friends' and their own projects.
To this end, we're looking to raise approximately $2,000, about 2/3 the cost of the theft value. Gandor Chorale will use this money to replace their stolen equipment, which includes four sets of headphones, all their microphones, all their pedals, drum cymbals, and their newly-purchased in-ear monitor system (you can see a full list of equipment and estimated costs above.)
This page is created and run by friends of Gandor Chorale; they have been generous collaborators and members of our art community since the formation of their band. We would be so grateful for any generosity you could show towards them at this time so they can continue making their sweet sweet music!
