South Africa Wildlife Conservation Project

In July 2019, I will be travelling as part of a group to Welgevonden Game Reserve, South Africa.  We will be working with the White Rhino and other Endangered species, alongside wildlife vets and conservation professionals, assisting in their efforts against poaching. 

Since 2008, South Africa has lost over 7,000 rhino to poaching. We hope to spread awareness of the poaching crisis and assist in the amazing conservation work done at Welgevonden, while gaining hands on skills and experience of medical treatment in the veterinary nursing field across a wide range of African wildlife species. 

Some of the tasks we will be involved in include: 

Rhino and elephant identification and behavioural monitoring. 
Monitoring and understanding predator populations.
Parasite monitoring and control.
Wildlife breeding management.
Helicopter darting and immobilisation of wildlife for date tagging, ear notching and DNA samples.

It is my goal to raise £2000 sponsorship towards travel expenses for this worthy cause.  If anyone would like to donate, no matter how small the donation, I would be extremely grateful.
